It was a pleasure to participate in the Arab Women Summit that aimed to empower Arab women through ICT.
The summit which was held in Rabat, Morocco on December 6th and 7th, 2011, Â gathered women, NGOs, professionals, thinkers, and Social Media specialists from around the Arab world to implement solid collaborations between women from the Arab region in the technology, political, and social sectors.
Ayman Itani, founder and CEO of Think Media Labs, was a part of Online Social Media in the Arab Women Lives panel, along with Miss Nada Hamzeh,Â Miss Racha Mourtada, andÂ Mr Dimitris RaftopoulosÂ The moderator was Dr. Mirna Barbar.
Itani delivered a presentation that provided insight on women being relationship builders by nature, thus being in a better position to master the use of Social Media where relationships are the core of communication.
By using recent case studies from the Middle East, Itani highlighted how women from different backgrounds had embraced Social Media to provide value and empower themselves as well as their communities.
Moreover, Itani shared with the audience the tangible next steps to allow women to be more involved and active in Social Media, helping them to fulfill their ambitions and the needs of their surrounding communities.
